DIET:
DRY MIX: (never allow dish to be empty)
Vetafarm cockatiel pellets plain or Nutriblend Minis
2 teaspoons Trill cockatiel seed (supermarket)
¼ teaspoon Almond Meal (supermarket)
¼ slice multi grain bread in small pieces (size of 5 cents)
FEED IN FLAT DISH (eg heavy pot plant saucer)

Calcium is for the Birds!

With nesting time here and little hens laying eggs, calcium is extremely important in your pet or aviary bird's diet. They also need to have natural sun and light on their feathers so they can process their calcium. Here are some calcium sources for birds:

Nesting time!

It is now nesting time. Be considerate of your pet or aviary bird's needs at this time of year. Watch your aviary or cage doors because birds will easily fly away looking for a mate!

Flying Parrots

The greatest gift you can give your pet parrot is to allow it to have un-clipped wings. You must take precautions with a flighted bird however. In the wild the most they will run into is a branch of a tree but in the house there are dangers such as hot stoves, water filled containers in which they can drown including the toilet, house plants that may be poisonous and windows into which they can easily crash.

Parrots are so clever. They need things to happen during their day that interest them. A positive thing for parrots is to receive or come across a treat that they love.

Treats should be nutritious. They can be hidden in the cage for the bird to find or given by hand.

By hiding a treat, the bird is given something of interest to do. In nature they spend their days looking for food treats!

By giving a treat to your bird by hand you are showing your love and affection. This is comforting for the bird.
